Necklace with purple heart pendant

This pendant was made from a 2" x 4" x 1" block of purple heart, using the table saw the wood was cut to rough shape and then sanded to shape using a belt sander at 150 grit. After the rough shape was sanded the purple heart was baked in the oven for 15 minutes at 350° F. This helps bring a rich purple to the wood as it is exposed to heat and the oil is released. To eliminate small nicks in the wood intern causing discomfort, the pendant was wet sanded up to 1000 grit. To reopen with woods grain the pendant was given a quick "waterpop". After the woods "bath" the pendant was finished using Walrus Oil's food safe oil and was buffed using their food safe board wax for an added sheen and protection.
